SeltaSquare, an AI-based pharmacovigilance specialist company, is gearing up to begin full-scale service operations.

SeltaSquare (CEO: Shin Min-kyung) announced on the 13th that it is preparing to launch an AI and Digital Transformation (DX) platform built on its accumulated expertise in full-lifecycle drug safety management — know-how validated through audits conducted by domestic and international regulatory authorities and global partners.

The company stated that professionals from Daewoong Pharmaceutical, Celltrion, and foreign-affiliated pharmacovigilance teams have come together to embark on a new challenge aimed at advancing the drug safety management ecosystem. SeltaSquare aims to set a new standard in pharmacovigilance by applying its proprietary AI technology to enable more systematic and scientific management of adverse event handling and medical evaluation.

The number of adverse drug reaction reports worldwide continues to rise, and the pharmaceutical and biotech industry currently spends a significant amount of time on repetitive, routine tasks related to side effect processing.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for stronger pharmacovigilance systems, and Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has been intensifying its pharmacovigilance compliance inspections of pharmaceutical companies since December 2020.

SeltaSquare aims to provide pharmaceutical and biotech companies with an AI-DX platform and differentiated services that enable them to grow into a "Safety Control Tower" — securing pharmacovigilance independence and helping the industry overcome challenges stemming from tightening PV regulations, thereby fostering mutual market growth.

The company plans to commercialize its platform on a module-by-module basis across the full scope of pharmacovigilance operations. Its first product, LITUS — a literature search automation system — is set to launch on July 1st.

LITUS (Literature-surfing Ultimate System) enables regular risk monitoring through advanced technology developed in open collaboration with IBM. The company notes that its efficiency has been validated through publication in a global academic journal (BCRP).

CEO Shin Min-kyung stated: "Through continuous innovation, we will solidify our position as a leader in AI and automation within the pharmacovigilance field. We plan to create synergies in PV so that medical and pharmaceutical experts at pharma-biotech companies can focus on high-value work, rather than spending the bulk of their time on repetitive tasks such as adverse event processing."
