SeltaSquare, a pharmacovigilance (PV) specialist company, announced on the 12th that it will begin distributing a free beta version of SELTA-OCTO MedDRA Coder — an AI-powered coding solution — through the official SELTA-OCTO website starting the 13th. The initiative is designed to improve workflow efficiency for healthcare professionals and practitioners who struggle with Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA) coding.

In the pharmaceutical industry — including PV and clinical operations — adverse event names, disease names, and test names must all be coded using MedDRA. This is considered a highly critical task, as it can directly affect the accuracy of analysis results. However, since the use of a MedDRA Coder is not a mandatory requirement, there has been an ongoing need for qualitative improvement in MedDRA coding practices.

In response, SeltaSquare is offering a free distribution of SELTA-OCTO, an AI coding solution recognized by MedDRA, with the aim of delivering optimal MedDRA coding outcomes. When a user enters a verbatim term into SELTA-OCTO, the system recommends the top three most appropriate MedDRA terms. For users with a verified MedDRA Subscription, it also provides the corresponding codes and hierarchy information for the recommended terms.

CEO Shin Min-kyung commented: "SELTA-OCTO is a solution recommended on the MedDRA website, and its AI has achieved a level equivalent to holding a MedDRA Coder certification. Through this free beta release, we hope to provide meaningful support to practitioners in the field, and we will continue to develop and distribute solutions that contribute to the advancement of the pharmacovigilance industry, powered by SeltaSquare's AI technology."
