The Ministry of SMEs and Startups held the 25th Women's Startup Competition Award Ceremony on the 3rd at TIPS Town S1 (TIPS Hall), presenting awards to outstanding companies.

The Women's Startup Competition is Korea's only startup competition exclusively for women (prospective) entrepreneurs, held to promote technology-based startups led by women with strong ideas and business concepts.

This year, a total of 1,003 teams competed, with 40 teams selected as finalists. In keeping with the competition's purpose of encouraging technology-based entrepreneurship, companies in the education content and ICT sectors numbered 483, while those in the lifestyle and bio-health sectors numbered 315 — with technology-focused startups accounting for 798 companies in total, or 79.6% of all entrants.

The Grand Prize (Minister of SMEs and Startups Award, with prize money of KRW 20 million) was awarded to Shin Min-kyung, CEO of SeltaSquare, for developing an "AI-Based Full-Lifecycle Drug Adverse Event Monitoring Automation Platform."

All award recipients will receive support through an accelerating program. The top 26 teams will also be given automatic entry into the unified main round of the upcoming Challenge K-Startup competition, scheduled for September.

Deputy Minister of SMEs and Startups Oh Ki-woong stated: "We will not stop at simply identifying outstanding startup companies — the Ministry will actively support them in growing into competitive enterprises capable of competing in overseas markets as well, by fully leveraging the strengths of women entrepreneurs: their attention to detail and resilience."
